Hi - I recently acquired an '08 GX470 that I have been enjoying for the past couple weeks. I know the air bags were remove at some point but am unsure if they were deleted "properly". I have put about 1,000 miles on it already with no issues. I had some work done today - fluids, plugs, etc... and was told that I may want to put in some plugs or stops for the coils. I see that most of the kits come with parts that mine does not have. As you can see from the picture it looks like it is sitting with no base. Is this safe? This is a road machine for now as I consider a potential modest lift. Should I add something like the Metal Tech sage 1 kit? Poor picture enclosed. Thanks for any help!

There should be an attachment mechanism on the bottom to keep the spring in place. It sure looks like it's just sitting on the old airbag perch to me. It may or may not pop off driving on flat pavement, but would be at a risk of popping out if you get the rig articulating side-to-side, after which you'd be riding on the bump stops (not fun).

I like the Ironman conversion kit more than the MetalTech kit. The Ironman kit has a threaded base and allows for around an inch of up and down adjustability on rear ride height. The MetalTech kit is fixed height.

Regardless of which way you go, I'd get a kit ordered and get it in there in short order.

That is what I figured..... thanks so much.

Another option that I saw and then used myself is to get spring isolator, stack two hockey pucks on each perch with a hole drilled through the center, and then pass a large high grade bolt with nut, and washers to secure to the base. Total cost less than $30. One year in and no problems

Don't have a photo installed, but here are two photos during the install

I just bought a lower isolator from The Big River. Energy Suspension coil spring isolator and four hockey pucks. The pucks fit absolutely perfect inside the isolator. Gonna drill and run a nice grade8 bolts through there.
