Picked up another 100-series, this time an 07 LX 470 with 60k on it. I thought someone had put goofy Limited Edition stickers on it and figured Id take it off later, so I was surprised to see an LE pkg on the original window sticker. I just liked the dark wood trim and had no idea it was part of a pkg.

I use it as a daily beater and LOVE the ride, although I've noticed the "exhaust booming" at stops while in D. Sounds like it has a subwoofer or something and gives me a headache. The TSIB is only through 06 so the 07s (according to the dealer) apparently had the stuff done already. Lexus dealer checked and said everything was fine and basically have to live with it. Its starting to annoy me

Any recommendations on how to fix this before i go nuts and get a 200 series? Would going with a cat-back EMS exhaust help the resonance?

Some pics of the LX with our blacked out weekend kiddie mover and rhino (w/baby seat) :)

Any of the aftermarket "cat-back" systems will be louder than the original equipment muffler. A new cat-back system might produce enough noise to drown out the resonance, but it doesn't sound like that is what you are after.

You could try using a different resonator in place of the factory resonator, located immediately before the tailpipe. I cannot recommend a particular brand or model.

If you want it quiet, your best bet is to leave the factory muffler in place. Any aftermarket muffler will be louder than the Lexus muffler.

Out of curiosity, does your truck have the anti-resonator (looks like a dive weight) attached to the underside of the frame rail?

mars - it does have one of those weights on driver side frame rail, but not passenger side. I asked dealer to ensure TSIB weights, etc were all as present as well.

I figured exh would do the trick and possibly change the frequency and altering the resonance , but like you note, i dont wanna drop $ on an exh and still have that booming.

Im hoping someone out there has managed to address this issue. Thanks.

Take the engine cover off - these are notorious for creating a very loud vibration at idle.
