While my '91 3FE powered FJ80 has proven to be an extremely reliable daily driver, I recently decided to toss my hat into the 100 series ring.
After a few months of searching I came across a well maintained 07 LX 470 with 112k on the clock. It has six pages of service history through lexus up to 109k, with nothing unusual replaced. The timing bet and water pump were replaced at 93k. It's from Southern MD, and was spared from the rust that plagues vehicles from my area. It's extremely loaded, including night vision, but no rear seat entertainment (which wasn't important to me).
I drove it for about 3 hours so far, and I have to admit it's a hell of an improvement from my '91.
I intend to baseline all the fluids, filters and get some Fluid Film on the underside.
It has an ipod hookup that plays through the nav unit under the heading "Mini Disk". It also has a mystery switch:
I know I've seen that switch before. Anyone have some information on what that's for, so I can pull information off of the manufacturers website? When I activate either of those buttons, I hear a faint click in the dash like a relay was energized.
On a side note, I had no idea a vehicle could be so silent. My 3fe sounds like an industrial sewing machine.
