Hello everyone, I am 15 minutes new to the site and I have just purchased a 1997 80 series. I am wondering if anyone knows of a shop or mechanic that works on Land Cruisers in Tucson, AZ? Any help or direction is greatly appreciated!

Just some information on my Land Cruiser: The LC has been in California its entire life (no rust at all), 209K miles, everything seems to be working but there are the normal issues due to age and normal use. Just looking for some help with diagnosing a few items that may/need attention.

Welcome.

The best investment in time for you at this point is to download the service manuals from the RESOURCES section. With a basic tool set, you can do almost all the maintenance required yourself, and quite a lot of the dealer recommended maintenance. Even if you're no mechanically inclined, reading the procedures and knowing what's involved will make you a better owner/customer.

What do you think needs to be done?

There is a wealh of information here and many folks to share it with you.

Oh, and photos are always nice.

Thank you sir, I will definitely take a look at that and start downloading. I guess a few issues are as follows: a noticeable jerk when accelerating from lower speed (about 10 to 15mph), high beams wont turn on (bulbs look good), a metallic vibrating sound from the passenger side while turning left. ( I can’t seem to replicate the noise when the vehicle is in Park).

Very nice looking ride! I picked mine up from Tucson 2 summers ago, I'll look through the PO's numerous invoices that came with mine to see what shops he may have used.

Update...looks like most of my receipts were for parts...didn't come across much on service from the area.

I really appreciate you looking! Thank you

Nice clean looking rig...welcome to the community
Have you ran a diagnostic for any stored codes?
I would also suggest linking up with the local club (great resource, common likes , etc.), you can find the groups in the clubhouse section (AZ- Copper State Cruisers - https://forum.ih8mud.com/forums/az-copper-state-cruisers.25/)
Thank you for the link, will definitely check them out. Haven’t run any codes, was looking at having a shop go over it on Friday

Good looking rig. How is the interior?

Talk to either @richardlillard1 or @Cruiserhiggs They are both located in the Tempe/Mesa area but have years of experience between them.

Welcome!

Do you have any interest in doing your own work?

We'll help out, but we'll also criticize and critique whatever you do, give it back. Don't get all upset because someone bags on you for your choices.
We typically do expect people to search before asking most questions so you show that your not just asking for a handout.

OP has appointment with us Friday. Sonoita is much closer to Tucson than PHX. 50mins vs 2hrs+

If we don’t like the FZJ80, we will send him to the Valley Miscreants…. 😂😂

(j/k)

I think the AZ clubby folks “forget” that there is a LC shop in Southern AZ that does good work.

Memo for CoachBasketball: If you've got OGBeno on your team, you'll be going for the championship before long. He's a national treasure who knows his stuff, as well as nurtured by CruiserDan, another national treasure. Your rig is in good hands!

Going for the championship soon...heck, you've got the equivalent of the men's USA Olympic basketball team + Simone Biles on your side with OGBeno!

@OGBeno is closer to you than we are and he will take care of you. Great guy and they do awesome work. You'll be in good hands.

Interior is pretty good, original leather on doors and back seats including the jump seats. The front seats were reupholstered. The dash buttons are worn and the backlights are faint but still functional.
