I've had my BFG AT/KOs for about 50k miles now, and am looking to get new tires.

They are 235/85R16, and I absolutely love them. Great traction everywhere on and off road, and I love the size.

Problem is, that size only comes in load range E, which adds a lot of weight, which hurts my gas mileage. Each tire weighs about 50 lbs.

Should I change the size? Should I pick a different tire? I'd like to drop some weight, wouldn't be opposed to a bigger overall tire but nothing bigger than 33''.

I looked at ats in that size and at load range c they're still over 50 lbs, lol.

In fact, the best option for some weight savings seems to be rugged trail tires but I hear they're not so good.
Rugged terrains are a little lighter at 46lbs, but I'm not sure if that's a big improvement

Is there something from Michelin or another company I should look at?

I'm thinking I might go with Cooper AT3s in 235/85R16. Should be better in snow and rain than my ATs and they weigh ten pounds less (43lbs).
