I have a big receiver that takes up some room, and the magnaflow system that the PO put on runs into the area, but the tire fits without touching either. Its close, but not touching.

How close?

If it's only a few inches away I'd be concerned about heat ruining the tire. The exhaust gets *HOT*, even at speed.

I remember seeing some pictures someone posted where they had a basket over the rear bumper (similar to Garretts, but a bit lower). A plastic container they had in the the basket melted, and IIRC the propane tanks got hot enough that they popped the safety valve.

I'd definatly want a heat shield protecting it if it's too close.

not a few inches,:eek:  close.

probably ought to run that thing in the back, eh? I need that spare mount for the back, who's got one laying around?

That's the nice thing about having two rigs.

If I pull my 31's off mine (to go to 35's), I'll just slap them on the Mrs when she needs new tires.

Oh, and Garrett, didn't you tell me "It's just an inch" when I mentioned you going from 33's to 35's? :D
Yeah but her rig is stock so what will I do when I go from 35's to 38's @_0
That's a great price for 33's.

I'm planning on skipping striaght to 35's, or else I'd take you (or Garrett) up on the offers.
I know what I'll do

JK I'm sticking with my 35's for now ; )

I need to fab one up for myself. Maybe you can steal my design. :D

(Which will be ghetto-fabulous!)

YOU KNOW IT!!

I was out posing around Myrtle creek again today, checked the tire/exhaust temps every so often and it's not excessive, but not ideal. inside keeps it safer from terrain, and I can then chop out the stock spare assembly and fab up the hitch bumper I want, get rid of the receiver and it's compromised departure angle.

you got a plan or parts? I was thinking something along the lines of the Slee setup, for now I may just rig something that attaches to the 3d row bracket........

That was exactly my thought.

dog lost a foot....

been out there tonight, thinking about pulling the stock tire mount and altering it to fit in the back, use the factory nutserts for the grab handle above the sliding window, and looks like 1" conduit brackets would fit around the big bosses on the third row bracket. :D

........hour goes by.........

much to much thinking going on, just put the spare in the back, remove the receiver......

dog lost a foot, dad gains at least 2 1/2 inches in the departure category and the spare is not touching the exhaust.

1/2:banana::wrench:......

so.... anyone looking for a receiver hitch? :hhmm:

I'll be pulling the spare mount next, make room for a 2" tube sticking thru the rear crossmember and attached to more 2" tube where spare bracket lived.

yup. E clip if my RC lingo carries over to the full size stuff.;)

there are three "points" of attachment,

still thinking about using this or parts of in my interior spare carrier, prolly not the crossmember tho, just the chain deal. ratchet straps are working well tho, another round of crawling around at the creek and spare, well he just sit there.

Thanks Brian, I'm actually doing research for an article for TT on rebuilding them... Just trying to figure out which others are similar. Can you take a look at you 60 for me? Thanks. Hijack soon to be over.....
