Heather has been talking to me about a small truck off and on for a while now. SHe does not like throwing bags off feed and horse tack in the trunk of her Volvo when going to the farm. Her Volvo is a 98 S80 CREAMPUFF. 189K and going strong, perfect interior. Great car. She does not like to drive my PU.

She wanted something older, with some cool factor. A customer called me and told me his 88 4RNR smoked the timing chain, pretty normal on a higher mialage 22RE motor. He told me $600 and bring a trailer.

We went and looked and here she is. Needs timing chain, I'll rebuild the motor. Was a daily comuter about 40 miles a day until chain let go. New: radiator, front rotors, calipers and brake lines. The interior is very clean, needs dash or cover, DS arm rest and a new shift boot. The rest is a detail away from looking great.

A couple dents that will pound out, different wheels and tires, fresh motor and I'll probably go through the trans and t-case. She loves it and I think it'll make a good truck for the farm.

Very cool! Nice score for $600! My concern now is... when will the truggy get done??

Conversion to LC coils

My 92 4runner was a great vehicle. I still miss it at times. Mine had the typical rear sag in the back. I had always heard that a common solution was to swap out the rear coils with LC coils. Not sure if these will work for you, but I saw them on CL the other night.

...I figured I'd mention it to the next 4runner owner that I stumbled across...

I have started making time at least 3 times a week to work on the truggy. The back half is almost as far as it can go before fitting the fuel cell and radiator. I am going to pull it off once at that point and finish up the welding on it.

Thanks for the heads up. I just plan on getting it safe and back on the road at this point. Heather says that she would like a 3" or so lift, bumpers an sliders. That will be a ways down the road, my project list is currently full.
