Hi everyone, just want to introduce myself. Michael from MA and recently just purchase a 06 GX470. Fairly new to the SUV life coming from BMW (E90, F30, and F82). A little bit about the truck. It was a one owner truck from CT. The gentleman was a doctor and had the truck service at New country Lexus of Westport CT. He had it service till the day he traded it. Came with a binder of service records and paper work. I purchase it with 141,000 miles on it from a used car dealership in NJ. Been very happy with it, have not driven it much since I am still waiting for the title from the dealership. However one major issue has come up. The two lines that goes from the transmission to the cooler in front burst due to rust. This is some what surprising to me sine there isn't much rust underneath. Anyhow I don't have or know of any indy shop that i trust so I took it to Herb Chambers Lexus in Sharon MA. And as the saying goes this is where the nightmare starts. They quoted me $1575 for labor and parts, $800 something for labor. Stupid me didn't look as to where the lines runs. I was thinking that it was all hard lines going up and around the engine. But later found out that it the two hard line goes up to rubber lines and that goes up to the cooler in front. Anyhow my fault for not doing research so I agree to just let them do it. Picked the car a day later since they had to order the part. Right away I was extremely unhappy when I picked up the truck. The tech didn't clean up any of the transmission fluid that was all over the skid plate, frame, and fuel tank cover. I expected more from a dealership but I paid for it and took it home. I got back and parked the car in the driveway and took a look at the work they had done again to verify there was no leak. And it was still leaking, I took it back to the dealership and they told me that one of the seal or something was defective and that they were going to change out the whole line. Which later I found out to be a lie. They only change out the two right union. So they told me it was all done and I can pick it up. Picked it up and drove it home again and this time no leak, until the next day. I notice that it is leaking around the threads of the union. Sorry for the long story but here is my question. It's going back again clearly but the second time they use teflon tape on the thread of the union. My buddy has a gx470 and there is not teflon from the factory. I question the tech on this and he said they didn't use teflon the first time and it leaked. So their game plan is to use liquid teflon on two new union. Shouldn't they replace the line since it could be an issue with the line itself. And two should they be using teflon or no.

Also any recommendation for good indy shops that deal with toyota/lexus would be much appreciated. Thank you everyone in advance for all the input. And sorry for the long post. As soon as the truck gets back and cleaned up I'll post some pics.
