Well, the transplant is underway. I yanked out the original 2F from my piggy (sniff, sniff) over the weekend and today installed the Jim C hi-po 2F that was in Jeff Dozier's FJ60. I left the transmission and transfer case in place supported by straps and although a bit awkward working the hoist from undernath while aligning the transmission for entry into the clutch assembly (and rolling the truck forward by hand from underneath!!!) it went relatively well. Right now the engine is mated to the tranny and all motor mounts are back together and tightened. Now it's the detail work to be done but I ran out of energy for the night. Tough getting old, believe me, and all that crawling underneath and stuff wears me out.

In any event I am hopeful to have the old girl fired up sometime Friday (next two days are spoken for- no garage time till Friday!!!) and hope she likes the new added power. Stay tuned. Gary S

Sounds like a productive couple of days, especially by yourself.

New engine

Well, the piggy is back under power!!!! Got it running Saturday, seems to run pretty strong. I haven't driven it enough to really get it up to temperatrure since it's running through an open header at the moment!! I haven't decided what to do with the exhaust at this time although I'd like to have a complete new, bigger diameter exhaust system installed. The header collector is 2 1/2" diameter and I'd like to keep the complete exhaust system at that diameter. My current system is 2" diameter and the bigger system will be better in keeping ith the better-breathing new engine.

Had to address some minor wiring and fuel delivery issues and to replace a coil with a broken wire to get her started. Luckily I had another coil hanging between the rafters!!!!!! The new engine sure has a lot of oil pressure, at least compared to the tired 2F that I removed from the piggie.

All in all I am pretty happy with the way the replacement went. It's a lot ofwork doing this job alone especially if you want to avoid hassles. I was fortunate in that Kevin and Mitch Rowlands visited Saturday and were able to halp me toruble shoot the fuel delivery issue. Thanks guys!!!! Inany event I am looking forward to getting the piggie back into the woods, but first there's some planned work to be done. Exhaust system ofcourse, and John Merkey is gonna install new front flors for me to replace the holy floors that are now in there!!! Needs some new spring bushings too, and I'm thinking of some new front seats to. never ends, eh????? Gary S
