i have to take the battery out if a 04 porsche 911 carrera, is there anything i should know before i go over there and take it out? Im thinking of just taking some cresent wrenches and a flat head screw driver. Ive never even seen the engine compartment so i dont know if the battery is gunna be tucked way in the back and its gunna be a pain in the ass to get out. too bad its not a toyota 911

Well i would start by looking in the front not the back to begin with. All of them that i have owned had the battery in the other end of the car than the engine to help balance the weight. Should be fine with just a set of metric tools. Don't use the cresent wrenches though. The owner will thank you for not making a mess of things. Porsche people can be pretty picky.

Why are they disconnecting it? Seems like an odd post?

my wifes grandpa isn't supposed to be driving so her mom asked me to disconnect the batteries in his cars. Its kinda sad, he has always had some awesome cars and now they don't want him to drive anymore and i don't blame them. Plus her dad had shoulder surgery so he cant do it. Lucky the sockets i brought were the right size so i didnt scratch it up.

That is really too bad. Sitting for long period is not good for those cars or any others. It will have more problems after it sits for a year or two than it would being driven hard every week.

Grandpa will be pissed if he doesn't know about this!

he knows, hes had a few medical problems and i think he saw it coming, they are probably going to sell at as he is moving into an assisted living place.

get a memory battery saver for radio

One the battery is removed there is a chance you will loose your settings for your radio. Also, in some cars the radio will be locked out from its anti theft device sensing a 0v to the radio. Dealership would then charge to reactivate the radio in the case it is a Honda. I do not know if your Porsche radio has this capability. Snap on and mac sell these units and are cheap. Another idea is clip on a small 12 volt battery to keep the memory alive. Battery change out should not be a issue.

When you disconnect all the baterries, don't forget about his Ol' John Deere;)
