i was talking to somebody the a while ago about new Alternators made by nippon denso (the OE supplier). so to whom it may concern, here is the link:

click "alternator units" then "nippon denso". you have to submit for a quote but i remember them being reasonable. I never ordered from them however. they offer them in several volt/amp ratings too. only problem is that they are in Australia. so if you are in the market for a NEW alternator, check them out and then report back here with the details!
