With one crack of the throttle you'll know...Plus if your single chicks will come out of the wood work just to get a ride on it....and if your not single you might reconsider your situation. Trust me it's amazing! Shop around for storage units. That seems a bit high to me though, all you need is a unit that is about 3ft wide and 6 ft long or so...oh and when you go to store it you'll need some sta-bil when you fill it up to prevent rust growing in the tank and to keep the gas fresh. Also disconnect the battery and put it on a battery tender.

I'm not single, but I'm sure that as soon as I get on it and lean into the throttle, I will never want to get off.

As for the storage unit, it just dawned on me that I could further justify the cost of one by putting my M416 in it. That would keep both out of the weather and safe!

I have kept a bike inside a house

I don't think that would work in a fraternity house :grinpimp:

If I owned my own house, all my furniture would be made of old cruiser parts!

"I don't think that would work in a fraternity house :grinpimp:"

Oh, C'mon!? A fraternity house?

We had a bachelor party about 15 years ago in my buddy's garage/office with my VFR as a "centerpiece" in lieu of a brass pole. I would upload pics but as I recall at the time there was a big stink about any pictures supposedly being taken. :grinpimp:

It was interesting to say the least. But now I'm old and riding the bike would interest me more than standing around with a bunch of guys drooling over the "rider".

Hahaha!! That's pretty awesome. We do hold a bi-annual stripper night, but we built a stripper pole + platform that is permanently mounted in our basement. I think having a crotch rocket ( pun intended ) as the "pole" would be much more entertaining:D

Probably wasn't actually as exciting as I remember, but I have to cling to what memories I have.

Moral of the story: Enjoy your youth and make the most of your "home improvements". :)

Joe Rocket makes some good gear.

They may be good, but my jacket was made in Pakistan. I mist a photo op to get a Teknic that was made in Pakistan or Korea or something to that effect.

I bought my summer J.R jacket for $25 off CL. He also had some (used) $100 TourMaster gloves he sold me for $10 more.

Topped off with an awesome insulated water/ wind proof MA1 style liner at Good Will for $5.

Don't buy this stuff new. Check out deals like *this* on CL for gear.

The reason I'm saying all this is b/c we live in a global economy . Not that I have ANY problems with good gear. I DO have a problem with 300% markups . It's all the same sh...

Choose wisely, and check this guy out

I'm shocked that nobody said "buy an old honda". :meh:

You can't go wrong. It will be cheap, and you will lay it down (or a buddy will). The old inline 4's are no joke. A 650 or 750 nighthawk would be a great choice. Most are shaft drive six speeds that run forever or just need new carbs, It's an upright bike that handles like a sportbike. Pre-1990 will be less than a grand and you won't feel bad leaving it in the rain. When you've gotten it figured out go buy a decent bike and keep the cheap one for friends or springtime riding. If you want sprt go nighthawk or v45 sabre.

I bought a v45 magna (83 I think) for $600 bucks last summer (came with suit, helmet, and leather jacket). Liquid cooled, shaft drive, six speed. It does 80 in third gear. It's light enough that I can toss it around on corners and a blast to ride. At 700 or 750cc I can't think of a better starter bike (cruiser style-low center of gravity). They run about 80-90 horse if I recall; respectable. It'll do 120 if you want but I've never needed to.

The other v-4's (vfr1000 or v65 magnas or sabres) can be had for $1,500 or less and will napalm anything but a litre bike (or an old v-max; that'll come down to the rider). I've had my v65 just shy of 140 and it still had throttle left.

Get a cheap fun starter. You'll be glad you did.

There's a v45 magna on craigslist in your town right now for 8 bills. Buy it, rape it, and buy the butt pirate bike next summer. Serious. You will get your 800 out of it on the first long ride.

8 means 6 cash.

Ask him for his jacket too.....

Definitely good advice. At this stage in the game if I get one that's what it's gonna be. I have decided to bring my cruiser to the next level and that has cut out almost all of my motorcycle budget.

+2

IMO - an old Hondas are a great way to get into motocycling, especially if youre on a budget. They have nearly the longevity of BMWs without the charm. If your 25 year old Beemer dies, you may pay a couple thousand bucks to get it back on the road; If your 25 year old Honda bites the dust, you just go buy another old Honda for $800, change the oil, shoot some carb cleaner in there, charge the battery, and off you go.
