Greetings all. Looking to become a LC owner. Previously owned a FJ but had to move up to a larger vehicle when we had a heavy trailer. Trailer now gone so looking to get into a more comfortable yet overland capable vehicle. In looking at various models, the 200 series seems to check most boxes. Any advice on problem areas to specifically look at? As I'm in an area where they fertilize the roads with salt in the winter, I'm particularly concerned about where to look for rust. Any other thoughts on mechanical and electrical areas to check? Are there any pros/cons between the early or later year models that I should consider? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome. I’d start with looking through the forum FAQs. There is a post on buying. For rust, use the forum search feature to find posts with photos on what to look for. Then use google to find lots of threads with your same question. Try this search term in google: 200 land cruiser buying advice ih8mud

Great advice. Knowing where to begin looking is always half the battle. Thanks

Rust would be the big issue. Pre 2018 will need a radiator. Also check valley plate leak. Most on here, myself included, would suggest buying the newest one you can afford. Mileage not a big concern with good maintenance. Love my '15 LX. Best overlander you can buy IMHO. This group is amazing. Definitely would not have bought mine without out this forum to ask questions etc. Lots of info in the "Before you buy" section...welcome to the club and feel free to ask questions!
