Hi my name is Matt and I want a 100 series cruiser. ;-)

Just wanted to make a quick intro, I've never really been on this forum until I got the land cruiser bug. Now I'm in the market for nice 2003-2006 LX470. Had initially started the search for a LC of same year but I gave up since they were/are impossible to find. The LX version is still tricky but there are a few here and there.

Have a budget of around $17.5k. Hoping to find a 1 owner, 100-125k (tb and wp done already) southern or western truck. I have no problems flying out 1 way for a good lead. I want to avoid trucks from my area and new england area like the plague. I have an 02 Tahoe Z71 that I'll be replacing and it is so rusty it's not even funny.

Currently our daily drivers are X3 and 335i MSport. Amazing vehicles but we're looking for something to take on long road trips and play in the back country with. The Tahoe is decent, owned it since new and now has 130k on it but we're ready for something different.

Hello Matt and welcome! I'm new, too, and have been searching for an 06-07. You should be able to find a clean '03-05 at your price point. Let those of us in the south know if we can be of help, if you see on that needs to be looked at. I'm likely buying one at a distance as well, waiting on a PPI report hopefully tomorrow.

Thanks for the kind word Michael and maybe someday soon I'll take you guys up on a remote inspection.

And likewise, I'm available to help checkout anything in the Ohio, IN, KY area as well.

Good luck with your PPI, bet waiting for results is suspenseful!

Good luck @n55luvr and @Toyo72. Searching is half the fun! Just a data point, but I paid $18K for my '03 last year with 88K miles from the original owner. This was by far the cheapest / best condition LC/LX I could find over a lengthy search period.

I've since put in another $2K in new Michelin LTX MS2's, new Windshield, new fluids, and new rear brakes. Bought the Aisin Timing Belt kit for $188 off Amazon and plan to DIY in the Spring. I love it and you guys will too.

BTW, I gave up on the fly to a dry state and drive / ship home an LC/LX. It was too much of a headache at the end of the day - trying to get the seller to do a PPI, paying for results, and then not having it work out. I finally decided to wait until a clean local one came up for sale and I'm glad I did.

Welcome! I bought my 98LX inNaples, Fl with 56k on the clock this past November. Good luck with ur search!

Man, you guys are making me even more anxious with your success stories. I'm sure if I come across a local garage queen then I'd consider local. I agree it's a bit intimidating trying to lock one down from afar.

Welcome Matt.
Good luck with the search.
I live in Austin TX. In case that you see something interesting in this area I can help you look at it.

About to seal the deal this weekend on a 2004 LC w/ 116k miles. Picking it up for $17.5k. 2 owner and 0 service records from 0-100k miles. 2nd owner has maintenance records. Clean CarFax. Had inspection done by toyota dealership yesterday. They found several items of varying concern. Needs new rear pads/rotors, leaky front shock, corroded rear a/c lines (this was probably my biggest concern as it's not easy to run these rear lines. Went through something similar on my Tahoe and had to actually lift the body off frame to do). Front hubs had tiny play, suggested repacking bearings.

TB, water pump and plugs were done recently, along with new muffler and new tires. Not much rust at all (none on any painted surfaces) considering it's called rust belt home for 10 years.

Body is a little rough. Few dents that can be pulled, some serious swirling on the black paint which I think I can mostly correct. 1 fog light seems to be leaking. Looks really dirty on the inside, not sure how hard the housing is to split open and clean or replace.

That's about it. Hoping to start modding lightly soon. I'm envisioning slee sliders as first mod.

Congrats! Where are the pics?

On the fog light, replacement might be your best option. By the time you pull the unit, heat the lens and housing to pry them apart, fix, and reinstall, might be easier to scan ebay for a new unit.

Congrats on the new ride! As soon as you get the goofy running boards off it will already feel modded.

Thanks guys. Only picture I have right now and it's not great. Supposed to pick it up Saturday. Hopefully running boards come off Saturday evening.

Good tip on the fog light. Was hoping I wouldn't have to bake it to get it apart. I'll track down a used one.
