Hey Guys !

Just wanted to know if there were any members in the phoenix area that would be willing to give me some suggestions. I have a 97 Lexus Lx that has some little problems. Does anyone have any local repair shops you trust ? Somethings that need addressing are suspension related.(I think) The previous owner put a obnoxious exhaust on it. I know i could probably just go to Midas. Any help would be appreciated. I live in Gilbert,AZ. Thanks !

Thanks

Thanks for the input guys. I will check out Mesa Muffler. My suspension issues are as follows. The car has too much roll. Meaning that the car feels like it needs new shocks or springs. I had it checked by my buddy who is the head mechanic at chandler lexus. He said the shocks/struts were still working as designed but the springs were probably wearing out since the vehicle has 170k on the odometer. Also when i turn the steering wheel all the way in one direction I can feel rubbing/grinding feedback in the steering wheel. I asked him about the birfields and he suggested that i check with the guys that have these trucks because he normally works on newer Lx's and didnt want to steer me wrong. Thanks for all your input.

The infamous LX soft suspension. Working as designed but now old and rolls around even more :frown:. I wouldnt do anything based off the idea that something is wrong with the vehicle, only if you want to for the reason of upgrading the ride performance.

The best way, but costs a couple bucks, is to upgrade the springs and shocks. I just installed a complete Slee stock ride height kit on a guys 97 LX and it was night and day. He actually picked up about an inch and a half in height. It came with shocks, springs, and a steering stabilizer. The springs in that kit are not a constant rate spring so it rode amazingly well ~ firmer but still very pliable/comfortable. Depends on what youre looking for also = if your going to do a lift, do you want to go ahead and do the 2.5" set up? Some things to think about.

You could also just upgrade the shocks with some aftermarket ones for a good price and put them on yourself. For the money, that would help you now without hitting the budget too hard.

Congrats on your new "Pink Panty Mobile"

(said with pride amoung our LX club members - you need the sticker now too)

X2 on Mesa Muffler.

How you intend to use the rig would determine what would be the best for both exhaust and suspension mods. I recommended stopping by the Sonic meet in Tempe next Friday and checking out what others have done before spending $$$.

It's all very formal and precise. Most arrive about duskish or when they feel like it and hangout till they are tired of BSing about Cruisers or just tired or get tossed out by the cops or whatever. Info and map in this post,,, well 'cept we actually meet in the next parking lot to the west of Sonic, the Quick Trip office. :hillbilly:
