Hey guys and gals. I am new to the forum although I have read it sporadically for a couple years. Just bought an 08 sandstorm 4x4 and love it after 1 week.

I want to go off road but am a newbie in that category as well. Are there any people around Nashville, TN that I could hook up with to learn a bit?

Also I have a basic set up, no TRD stuff or anything that I would consider quality off road equipment. How many people take their FJ on the trail straight out of the showroom?

Any opinions on most important upgrades to do first?

Thanks ,
Rod

I took my FJ wheeling the week I bought it...it is fine to take it on the trails stock although it didnt take me long to start modding it...i would say the best upgrades to start with would be body protection, lift and tires...IMHO the only way to learn to wheel is by doin it, go out have fun get stuck a few times just my 2 cents

Thanks guys. I have read here that the Toyota rock rails and skid plates aren't very good. Any recommendations?

Bud Built skid plates, Trail Gear Sliders are what I run.

Welcome to the family. I purchased my FJ in September of 08 7800 miles on the Odo now loving it! I almost bought the sandstorm color that is a good choice in my opinion. Do you plan on lifting or modifying your truck?

Thanks guys. I'm trying to get to skyline if possible.

Yeah I will probably do some up grades. My FJ is my daily driver also so I need to have a good balance between on/off road ability.
