Hello all. I'm Tom in Huntsville, Al. I recently got my 2000 LX470 with 204k miles and it all stock as best I can tell. I had been drooling over LCs and LXs for a while but thought I would have to wait for a while before I could get one. Then I stumbled on one at Bill Penny when I went to look at a really cheap Tahoe. I traded a 2010 Honda CR-V for it and got $2k back to help cover the potential required maintenance since it wasn't well documented past 100k miles. So far, it is everything I hoped for and I'm really enjoying it. Been working to get it baselined and all maintenance up to date. I replaced the timing belt, water pump, pulleys, Tees, hoses, tranny fluid, drive shaft grease, and alternator all in the last week. Also since purchase recharged the AC, fixed the power antennae, upgraded to LED interior lights, replaced missing ashtray and rear passenger door courtesy light. Still need to do the differentials and TC fluid, and also add some mor grease to drive shaft to fix the "clunk". So I'm getting close to being able to do some fun stuff. Anyway, this forum is awesome and I hope to meet some others in Huntsville or nearby to enjoy my Hundy with! I saw a previous thread that said locals were meeting at Bill Penny on 2nd Saturday each month. Is that still happening? Will post a pic tomorrow.

Cheers,
Tom

Congrats on the new ride. Sounds like you've been busy with it!!! They're great trucks. I'm in California so not sure on the Bill Penny stuff. Enjoy the 100!!! :)

Hi Tom, welcome! I'm in Atlanta - not too far from Huntsville. Your story sounds very similar to mine recently. Although I had LCs/LX450 in the past, I was actually searching for a reasonably priced Chevy Tahoe. As I searched, I came across this one-owner 2000 LX470 with 207,000 miles, in really nice condition, in black (the only color I like for my trucks). I ran the VIN through Lexus.Drivers and found every single maintenance/service record for the past 15+ years (it was babied at a local Lexus dealer), and I also had my Toyota mechanic inspect it thoroughly (he said, "If you don't buy it, I will"). Of course, having spent its whole life in the South, and probably never off the pavement, there was not a speck of rust anywhere, including undercarriage. Everything checked out, and I became the very proud and lucky owner of this LX470.

I confirmed all the major maintenance with the local dealer, so I didn't even need to baseline it. All I've done so far is change oil to Mobil 1 full synthetic, mounted new Bridgestone Revo LT285/75s, tinted front windows to match rears, new headlamps, and new interior floormats. Every time I go out to the garage, I have to pinch myself to make sure this baby is really sitting there in my garage. Next mods - a Dissent front bumper, and Gamiviti roof rack.
