Hi all. My name is Marcos, and I'm from Madrid.
I have a BJ73 since 1997. It has been standing since 2004 and am now in the process of resurecting her.

The time I used the car thoroughly enjoyed, but due to life circumstances have not had time for her during these years. The car has a few modifications, all pending being approved by Government:
  • AXT Turbo front intercooler (small and input / output by the driver's side).
  • Setrab oil cooler and sandwich for the filter.
  • OME suspension kit medium/hard including steering stabilizer
  • 235/85/16 BFG MT
  • Safari Snorkel
  • Webasto electric sunroof
  • 3 row radiator but more fin density. I have also four rows one.
  • Fairey Overdrive pending of installation
I had problems with the exhaust gasket, and also with heater core... It cracked and filled the cabin of antifreeze. A disaster.

The problem started when attempt to disassemble the exhaust manifold. There was no way. So, to took it to a mechanic in the town I live in, and cursed the hour ... spent a year at his shop and did nothing at all. When I finally got the car from his claws, It was all dead.

So, it has been since 2004 parked in front of my house.
I finally dissasembled the AXT kit's exhaust manifold, and I realized that does not exactly fit the standard exhaust gasket. I'll post photos of this particular issue.

Here are some pictures of the rig's current status. I think something has been living in all these years. Currently it has a 13B-T exhaust manifold modified for the AXT turbo. However, with the AXT manifold the enigne was revvier and boost came up earlier, around 1300-14000 RPM. I hope to repair it slowly and upload more updated photos. I guess I will need help, especially with electrical issues. It is 24 volts. Here are some images of the truck.

Thanks and regards!

Welcome to the forum Marcos.
Good luck with it,under all the grime and dirt it doesnt look too bad.

Do you really think it will need the fairy overdrive?
The 5 sp with some big tyres gives them plenty of top speed,in fact the top speed is quite adequate without the big tyres.

Hey ! welcome ! im also from spain. (malaga)

I dissambled my exhaust manifold because the previus owner tried and broke some studs.. alot of smoke escaping and that kinda things.

I used a german extractor kit and a accudrill to extrackt them,if you need anyhelp/advise dont hassetate to pm/ask ! (it looks bigger then it is)

Hi Rosco, thanks for your welcome. You are right, it does not look so bad. I hope to crank the engine in the next weeks. Currently waiting for a pyro and boost gauge. Also pulled all the dashboard, since I need to replace/fix the heater box, levers are missing and I do not have windscreen defrost. A real mess.

About the Fairey... since I have it, I would like to give it a try.

I would like to go to a 4.55 to restore stock final ratio. I think that with tall tyres ( currently 235/85/16, plan to go 255/85/16 or 9.00R16 ) stock gearing would give a very sluggish ride. So going to 4.55 would compensatge this. In this case, the Fairey would give me a smooth cruise on highways.

But the main point is that since I have it, I consider installing it.

Regards.

Hello BuschMaster, thanks for your welcome.

It is good to find cruiserheads here in Spain.

I finally extracted the studs myself with a similar kit.

Regards.
