Hey all, I joined up recently and noticed some of the new members posting pics of their Cruisers so I thought I would do the same. Some of the specs on my 60 are a 350 SBC, Turbo 400 to the low range box of a 203 that connects to the stock Cruiser case. 33x10.5x15 BFG A/T's, 4.11's, SOA and Detroit rear. That's about the most of it. Still waiting to get funds for some Longfields, 4.56's, Auburn LSD up front and step up to some 35x12.50x15 BFG A/T's (I ended up with more clearance than expected when starting the project). All the work was done here in Grants Pass, OR by John Groves of Cruiser Parts and myself.

I thought I would add that we were able to keep the stock radiator and shroud in the stock location when we stabbed in the small block. I was going to also add a pic of the new tach that fits in the stock tach location and looks pretty clean but I ran out of room, if anyone is interested I can add a post.

:) Man, love the look of that wagon. By the way, Im new to Oregon-where in relation to Portland is Grants Pass? Makes me want to do a SOA! Where do you hit the trails? I have yet to since we arrived here from Tennessee. Still looking for employment. The job market sucks here. Trails+broken part=$$$$needed. So No job+no money=no trails

Nice 60! I like it's nice clean looks.

The tach was $34.99 at local Schucks (Kragen or some other name depending on where you live), and fits right in the stock hole, it's a tight fit though. Not the most impressive looking tach but more importantly it works. I have no clue if there is a difference for wiring a diesel or if this will work. If a regular after market tach works for your application then this one will too.

Grants Pass is right in I-5 just like Portland, but at the opposite end of the state! About 3-4 hour drive depending on your speed. I just went on a run on the McGrew trail down here on a TLCA sanctioned event, and that's the trail we usually run around here if we want some rocks to play on. Local hills are quite fun when the snow hits, I'm looking forward to chaining up all 4 this year and making some tracks. I believe there is some good wheeling up in your area though. On the McGrew run I met Brian and Ken (I don't know there user names here) and they are from the Portland/Vancouver area and would know more of the areas local to you. Both way cool guys and I would head out with them anytime.

Sweet Truck, I want to eventually do an engine conversion on mine but I got all the California smog crud ta deal with, was it worth it for you like with the degree of difficulty and the cost?

Very cool 60. i just got mine back on the road. the tach looks good to me, any chance you could post a pic a little closer for me??? Also looking at the A/C lines. How did you get that all to work??? I wanna run A/C in mine. By the way mine is an 87 with a TBI 350 700r4 to 203 to split case, SOA on 37" MTR's, don't bother with 35's in my opinion..Thanks Tim

hey man. got a pic of those 37" MTR's under it... I have 35's under my 60 and the rear trimmed and those 35's look way tiny. My next set of tires is going to be 37" MTR's...if ya got a pic post it up..I'd like a lil sneek peak..

thanks,

SS_Storm- The conversion was very worth it to me. Cost factor was around 5K for a crate engine and everything I needed to make it work, including drivetrain and labor. As for doing it in CA....ouch....you should definately talk to a CA conversion, we don't have any smog laws in this area. calfj60 might have some good info for you.

calfj60- I can get you some pics no prob, just PM me with an email address and I will send all you want. I'm at my max on posting here and it might take me a little bit to post them to my website and link them. As for how it works, we made our own brackets and mounted the compressor on the other side of the engine. I went down to Jiffy (Car Quest) and they made the lines for me, they had to be longer obviously. I have a new dryer to install and I have yet to charge the system. So I can't say it works perfect yet. I will let you know.

Thanks Doc.

Engine 2

Here are two more pics. I will go out and get some closer ones for you. You want to see the brackets for the compressor or?

Also why forget the 35's? Are you saying jump to the 37's or stick with 33's? I was actually concerned about bearings and stuff by stepping up to 35's, maybe I'm worrying about nothing?

37's are the way to go. On the A/C stuff did you have all the ends to mate the toyota stuff to teh chevy compressor or did they have all that in stock??

Using the Toyota compressor and yes they had the fittings in stock to make the new hoses. Basically just need the stock hoses 30" longer, so they just made new lines.

BTW the 37's look sweet, makes my 33's look like stockers!
