I have recently come into the world of Land Cruisers, having been a Land Rover guy now for a couple years (D1 and D2). I have a 2001 LC100 and it has a sunroof issue that a search through this forum couldn't quite answer for me.

As you can see in the photos, the black trim/seal around the sunroof has become unstable and causes 2 problems:
1) Not closing completely
2) Binding when the sunroof attempts to slide back

I have done complete sunroof repair/replace on my Land Rover D1 and am no stranger to all that work, but this seems like a pretty straightforward weatherstripping replacement. However, this trim seems like two pieces - a flexible weatherstrip and then some black trim that goes the circumference of the sunroof. Is the stripping just that brittle now? What part(s) do I need to replace this?

Just to follow up...I believe the inner black piece is the bezel that, at one time, adhered to the sunroof glass. That has somehow fused to the weatherstripping. So it moves as one piece. I suppose I could take the glass off, get some good adhesive on the bezel, and replace the weatherstripping?

Looks like the piece that is failing is not available individually.

Glass SUB-ASSY, SLIDING ROOF 63201-60063
BTW, I purchased my 2001 LC from Greensville SC little over a year ago. Ebay purchase. Good luck! Hopefully someone on here has a cheaper fix for your sunroof glass.

Hoo, boy. Time to put an alert on my LKQ app for a Land Cruiser. I will try to pull the black edging off since it's coming off already and re-attach. Any suggestions for the adhesive? Maybe JB-Weld?

I'd be looking for a whole assembly on car-part.com or from another wrecker. To swap the glass you remove the inside trim then remove the 4 gold-ish colored nuts and it lifts right out. If you had another assembly it's about a 10 minute job to swap.

You can remove the rubber and replace. The black plastic you can gently pull back from the glass, clean the glass and plastic, and then glue it back in place. I used a 3M adhesive, IIRC, but silicone caulk will work. There will likely be a small gap at the seam, and you do want to use silicone caulk to seal that before you put the new seal on.

You can also remove and adjust the glass by remove the interior black trim and there are 4 nuts holding it to the brackets.
