Don't know if this is tech, but it doesn't look like it qualifies for the electronic toys section(communication stuff). Mods, feel free to move if it doesn't belong here

Anyway, thought I'd share the final product and if anyone needs part numbers on the plastic trim that I used to properly install the stereo, let me know. I used a stiff, but bendable metal strap with various holes in it and attached it to the back of the stereo then bolted it to the A/C box.

I might shave the plastic trim down a bit, but I like the idea of a bigger surface area pushing against the dash to better secure the stereo.

In case you were wondering, the stereo itself with the trim would NOT fit the factory opening without modifying the stereo dash opening it and I didn't want to do that.

I'll take more pictures later to show the strap.

Nice Install

Looks really good , waiting for the other pic's

I'm very interested in the part numbers/price/where to get the plastic piece. My dash is cracked bad around the stereo from a failed theft attempt, and I'm looking for something like that. I've seen some that might recess the radio in the dash (kinda stock looking). Anyone know if this is the same or different?

Good looking stereo and install by the way!

I'll try and post them up today when I get home. I hope this helps others because I wish I had something like this before I spent hours trying to figure out how best to do this.

Did you make the plastic surround yourself or purchase it? I got mine from Crutchfield and it BARELY covers the hole. I'm happy enough with it, but I think yours looks better and more sturdy.

looks like trim ring made by Metra. 1/2" border p/n 89-30-0500 or 3/4" p/n 89-30-0750. any car stereo shop should have them.

89-30-0750...That's the one! I'm glad I went with this size then because it covers the opening just right. It'd be good for those that have a messed up opening.

This is a pic a typical radio that has a threaded hole in the back that you can mount the metal strap (next picture) onto.

This is where I mounted the metal strap to. I wasn't too happy with making a whole there, but then again, who cares! you can see it unless you get under there.

Nevermind all those other wires, I'm tucking them neatly underneath.
