Ok I'll agree with you. I have seen some of them do some amazing things though. No way I would pay that much for them.

Dustin, one of the selling points for me was a video I saw from legenday landcruisers.....the statement said something like....."look in all of the most extreme places around the world....you'll see Camels, and mules, and Landcruisers. " You won't see a Ford in the Amazon or a Chevy in the plains of Africa. It all about being different I guess. But anyway, not to continue to beat a dead horse. Hurry up and get away from that cold ****py weather up there. I promise you won't have any lake effect snow in Charleston. :grinpimp:

Trust me, i cant wait to get out of here. The only problem is going to be is having to pay all this extra money to be able to watch my Buckeyes, Browns (ya, they suck, but i'm not a front runner), Indians, and Cavs. Thats goin to be alot of money, LOL!!! I'm ready to have my top off for most of the year, opposed to having the top on for most of the year. Also, the salt really kills vehicles up here, i really doint think i'll miss that either.

Cable or Buffalo Wild Wings to watch the games... Doesn't cost that much more. That is what we have to do so Erymer can watch the Browns.. :)

Outstanding!!, thanks, i need my sports..

My two cents on why Land Cruisers: For some years I was an overseas construction worker. My colleagues had been in all the god-forsaken places on earth building oil refineries, mines etc. Most of them were Brits. Their take on the vehicle to have in the boonies was unanimously Toyota Land Cruisers. They would say that Land Rovers would do slightly more difficult terrain, but the upkeep on them was far more than they were worth. If it was a company truck or a fleet truck that everyone was driving there was nothing to be had but LCs. Only have a Land Rover if you were driving it and taking care of it personally.
Nobody had much good to say about J**ps.

On the other hand in the Arabian Desert I had a Silverado class 454ci K5 Blazer that was pretty fun in the dunes (once you added a half dozen or so extra shocks.)
And it's hard to beat a good old Ford Twin I-Beam front axle for pounding along dirt roads at totally insane rates of speed.
But if I was going across the uncharted desert solo I wouldn't take anything else but an old Toyota 4wd Hilux. I think I set a camp record for air distance in it.

BTW I like your handle. I just ordered a Rough Country lift set for my truck and now most of the club won't speak to me because they feel the only way to go is to emulate an aged flightless Australian bird for twice the price. I like the name and I like the price so I bought Rough Country. What sticker would you rather have on your shock boots: Rough Country or Old Man Emu? LOL
I'll probably end up putting in Bilstein struts however.

I'd rather have shocks that say OME... I have a RC 4" on my 40 right now and they got that name for a reason. They're rough as HELL. and they suck. I can't wait to get something different.

Yeah well. . . sometimes I'm a bit impulsive. I don't think it will hurt too bad, I'll still have the OE struts up front and I needed new shocks astern anyway because I fractured one at Tellico.
This is a quick way to get altitude while I figure where I'm going next. Also a way to get to know the people at Foothills. It would be nice to have a 4wd outfitter/shop right down the street and they seem to be knowledgeable.
If I stay with the 3" I'll improve the struts and shocks, and if necessary the springs until it gets right. I might go ahead to a major lift, I dunno right now.
I have Rough Countrys on my F100 and they've taken a lot of beating. We'll see.

I knew when I went there I would be going against the stream. But I'm the guy in the Upstate BMW Motorcycle Club that showed up on and old custom Harley ha ha.

Loved your story in the Tech Section, looking forward to wheeling with you.

Welcome Rough Country. You'll find the LC community to be
a tight knit, sharing group. See, we don't hate the sinners...
we hate the sin. Translation: Wheelers welcome but when they
drive J**Ps they get teased. If your hide is thick and your heart
is off road you'll have a good time here. I'd like to personally
welcome you to wheel and hang out with us anytime! Don't
worry about your choice of ...ahem....vehicle....we carry plenty
of tow straps on all our adventures. ;)
Seriously, welcome aboard fellow off roader.
May the good fellowship you find among UC bring about your conversion.

Thaaat's right!
And in my POV if you don't need to get snatched out a time or two every trip yer not tryin hard enuff.
After my first day wheelin (at Uwharrie, you'll love it) I decided my theme song for this hobby is one called Proving Ground by a bunch out of Athens GA called Widespread Panic.
Find out just how tall I am, by jumping in the middle of the river

Finally, some good content here Bill. Good call with the quote from JB and the boys.

Can't help but laugh at this though (courtesy of chat)...

I didn't exactly mean it literally foflmao.

Good lesson here: Never be the first one to attempt a stream crossing, then follow carefully in the leader's tracks.
