Hi guys,

I am Andy and just hit the registration button, looking forward to participate here and gain more knowledge.
My wife and I are traveling from Australia to Germany in our 75 series hitop troopy and currently in Mongolia.

I did install a Chinese diesel engine pre heater, but I think I installed it in the wrong position in my haste to get the car done before shipping.
I reckon i installed it to high in the engine bay and it should be lower then the engine (lost the instructions and can't seem to find them online).
Does anyone else installed such a pre heater and can help me out? The car has almost 500000km done and I would like to protect the engine as much as possible.
The heater turns on, runs for a couple minutes but then turns off, as I assume it can't circulate the coolant around (not enough left in that position after engine turned off) enough and heater gets to hot/reaches the set temp.

We will be in Mongolia, Russia and Kazakhstan and it won't get any warmer anytime soon.

I hope someone can help out.

Welcome! Sweet rig, sounds like an epic trip! I installed a Webasto ThermoTop C last winter, I opted to mount it down on the frame rail next to the transmission because it is recommended to put them as low as possible. Does yours have a circulating pump? The Webasto uses an electric pump to ensure proper coolant circulation, I think placing it low is just to make sure the system bleeds air out properly. If your heater doesn't have a pump it might be a good idea to install a small coolant pump like for an intercooler.
