Hello from Oklahoma! I'm new to the forum! Let me start with a short story. I had a 2013 Subaru Outback that headbutted a 2008 Honda Civic (not my fault) and totalled it. I was in the market for a capable offroad vehicle that can haul my wife and 2 kids and a lot of gear. I was sold on the GX470 for the longest time, but couldn't find a good one near me. I started looking for 100 series Land Cruisers and couldn't find one that wasn't a ridiculous price or completely clapped out. That's when I discovered the LX470. It was perfect and there were 2 within 100 miles of me. Took a 2 hour trip to look at both of them and found a diamond in the rough. It's an 01 LX with 271k. It spent all of its life in central OK, clearly garage kept (absolutely zero rust ANYWHERE) and everything works on it. Sort of...
The AHC wouldn't go up and down shortly after I brought it home, but it is currently working. It is low on fluid but plan on doing a flush and seeing if it works consistently.
A/C blows hot consistently, which is a problem for OK, but not during the winter.
And not sure when the timing belt was done last so I do plan on going ahead and replacing it this weekend.
Ended up getting it for $12k after unsuccessfully negotiating with the dealership GM (he knew what it was).
Other than that this thing is immaculate for a 24 year old truck. I do plan on doing an Ironman 4x4 front bumper, 33 in KO2s, dual battery setup, and snorkel/ diff breather relocation to start. And maybe a muffler delete. Will probably do a lot of DIY stuff and things in the future.
Anyway, happy to be here! I've already learned so much before even making the purchase, and can't wait to wrench on this thing.
