Hello all, unfortunately my first post is about a problem. I’m a new LC owner and need some help please. Bought a 2014 LC about 2 months ago with 109k miles. Already had it towed once as dealership didn’t attach a hose clamp correctly during pre-sale service/repair and I found it sitting in a puddle of coolant after work. Otherwise I have loved driving it and planning out future mods.

Last night after a 4.5 hour drive, the entertainment/Nav system reset while I was driving, that had never happened before. Then this morning while headed to work, it reset twice, each time while braking for a stop sign. Then a few stop signs later all electronics went out and truck died and would not restart, no power. I got out to signal drivers to go around me and when I got back in noticed lights on and I was able to start it up. It started up and I drove around the neighborhood a little and everything seemed fine. I then drove the 25 miles on the tollway into the office just fine.

After work today, I got in and lights flashed briefly and then no power and truck won’t start.

I needed to get home so I rode with a coworker and will try jumping in the morning.

Any ideas?

Only thing abnormal over the weekend was I accidentally left two bags of ice on rear cargo rubber mat and they melted getting the carpet wet in the year and second row. I dried it out all day. Could that have caused an electrical issue?

Thanks!

Maybe. Maybe when you brake water is moving forward and flooding a connection? The main car electrical is in the front footwells, and some connectors are right at floor level. It’s really easy to pull the trim pieces and tug up the carpet. Find out if water migrated up front.
A nonstart could also be related to a electric short or of course this could all be related to a failing battery

Since the dealer was doing work that required the radiator to be removed or at least disconnected maybe the same absent minded service tech who left the hose loose neglected to tighten the battery terminals. I’d check that those are tight.

welcome to the Forum! Lots of good info on here!

Know anything about battery age? If it’s the original, a new battery and clean connections will likely fix you right up. The symptoms are of a loose connection or poor ground. When you put in the new battery, clean the chassis connection for the negative cable too. Best choice for normal use is a 27F from Toyota or Interstate. (Costco has them).

Thanks for the replies. Posting the fix in case anyone gets same thing. Negative terminal was badly corroded and positive was loose, after tightening it still wouldn’t jump. Weird part was Nav and lights came on after tightening but then wouldn’t turn off and it wouldn’t lock with key fob. Had to tow to dealership and they replaced terminals and all is good.
