Anyone had luck with this recently? FR is one rack I'm considering but don't like the shorter length. I inquired about a longer version through the Contact link on the website. I received a reply that an extension can be added but they don't recommend it and won't warranty the rack with it because the extra length is not supported.

Hi, I have a full length 2nd gen FR rack. I have modified the rack to allow sunroof access. And the reason for going full length was to mount a 2.5m side awning.

The wind noise is nearly noticeable, though I wouldn't have a benchmark standard rack to compare to.

It looks like you cut one of the rails out and also did not install another rail. Is that correct?

Yes, the reason for the cutting the slat is because of the mounting point to the foot rails. The slat was not required. I ordered the extra length extension through Feontrunner South africa. Reference was RRSP4SL1 length 721mm 4 slat joining rack side profile.

How long ago did you order the longer side rail? According to FRO they no longer sell it.

I ordered it in April 2019. Its only sold in South Africa but not listed on their website. You will not find it anywhere else. You will have to send a query and a technical rep will get in touch with you.
