Snowed FridayWhen we stopped at a rest area before arriving, it was 67 and sunny. Back home, the temp was 48. We will be exploring this week and will report.

I private messaged you. We're free for dinner tonight!I'm kind of near there in hickory but will be working that whole time you are in town. I also don't have my rig down here in NC yet (just moved from Illinois, waiting until I have a house), so it would be a stand and look at an avalon or a camry meet up LOL!!
We're back. You busy tomorrow? We want to hit a trail or two before winter. Can’t do much for you while you’re in Marion, but PM if you me when you get home, I’m in Bow.
ONSC - they’re 45 min East of Asheville, is HC still a thing or did it get shut down?
We actually didn't end up going up. If it's nice next weekend, we're game.Guess I’m seeing this a bit late.
hope you had a good day out there.
November doesn’t get much better than this up here.
At first, I wasn't sure I'd like Marion. But it's a lot like New Hampshire so we like that. My friend said it's a poor town, and I suppose it is, but stores and the interstate are close and convenient. My husband and I ventured east one day and we didn't like it. We were on the outskirts of Winston-Salem and while there were some nice areas in some towns, there were also some not so nice areas. I looked up a couple random houses on Zillow and we drove to them and said nope; one was in Kernersville and I don't remember where the other one was, Statesville maybe. They appeared decent on Zillow but when we saw the neighborhood knew it wasn't for us. We love where we live in NH but the winters are just soooo long. So, our comparison is NH to NC really; that was our first visit. I believe we will move, probably not for a while as it will be expensive to move everything we own and we will have to save. When we look for a house, I think Marion will be on the list as well as Lincolnton, Morganton, Black Mountain, Elkin, areas like that.Let us know how you like Marion. Wife and I are considering moving there sometime in the future for our 2nd careersLooking at all options between Blowing Rock and Asheville.
No, not at all. We are self employed and can live wherever. Are you confined to your choices by work?

Thanks for the tip.I was gonna say that Morganton and Black Mountain would be good options to Marion - little more expensive housing, but further along on the "tourism and urban renewal" path. West Jefferson gets a lot of good press and we have friends that love it. Would be similar to Elkin, I believe.
