Is anyone running these tires. It’s the largest tire I can find in non-E rated. At 39 lbs and 32.5” I’m hoping they ride much better than E’s in the same size. They are almost $400 a tire so I’m wondering if they are OE on something.

Where did you find such a tire? According to the Falken web site (find it here: Falken 285/65R18) they only offer two tires - Wildpeak A/T3W and Wildpeak M/T - in LT285/65R18. Both are Load Range E and weigh a lot more than 39 lbs.

Inquiring minds need to know.

TIA

Discount Tire and Tire Rack both show it now along with the E rated version.

Found it - thanks! Looks like a brand new tire offering from Falken.

Discount Tire does indeed list the tire weight as 39 lbs, but TireRack has it listed as 50 lbs. I'm more inclined to believe TireRack on this one.

And, technically, this tire is a 116T Standard Load ISO-Metric tire - not a P-Metric tire.

HTH

I would think it would be lighter than 50 but 39 seems a little too light.

Does anyone run Falken A/T?

The Falken 285/65/18 Wildpeak AT3W used on the 2022 TRD Pro Tundra / 2023 Sequoia TRD Pro weighs 41 lbs so 39 lbs is pretty close. (It is mounted on the BBS wheel)

So since this is the first in this size I’m wondering if other manufacturers are going follow suit to supply the TRD models.

I would love Michelin Defenders in this size non-E.

I can’t speak beyond Tundra or Sequoia TRD Pro models. I know there is the 18” TRD Pro and 20” TRD Sport offering for the 2022 Tundra and 2023 Sequoia. Both sizes are Falken tires.

General makes the Grabber ATX's in 275-70-18 (33.2") in Load range C (that's why I picked them). Happy so far, not noisy, great offroad grip, way better ride than an E tire.

I went by a dealership today and confirmed that the TRD Pro will have the Falken 285/65-18. They have their first one coming in at the end of the month, and they are going to call me to come look at it.

Not exactly a secret at this point......I had known for awhile and was surprised at the width of this particular tire at first...at least from a factory installed perspective.

That is one reason why the 2022 BBS wheel is 8.5" wide. Previous BBS version was only 8" wide.

Just know OE tires are different than your regular tires.

So most are made to last at max 30k miles so if you lease it you have to buy the first set and it has fresh tires on return.

Also rubber compound will be different due to what I said above and I do remember someone stating the tread was different on the Pros vs the regular ATW3.

I have been in tire business for many years.

That is the reason there are so many tires in same size by same manufacture with different specs.

I am not really understanding this statement. Can you elaborate? There is absolutely no difference between the Falken used on Pro model and other off road models for the ATW3.

Tread design....

Tread blocks/voids are different between the that TPC and the retail version. Which is very common as Toyota specced it the way they wanted for noise and performance.

It also could be LT and P metric as well.

For the ATW3, the thread is the same between OEM and retail aftermarket.

What Toyota wants that retail doesn't care about is that the ATW3 must meet certain uniformity measurement range, conicity sort, application of low point sticker/dot for phase matching, etc.

I think that Toyota for off-road package (not TRD Pro) went with 265/70/18 with Michelin LTX Trail. Both tire and the size intrigue me quite a bit for my 2019 LC. The LTX Trail is 39 lbs.

Correct. Sorry....I still get mixed up in the conversations here. Here are the official 2022 Tundra list of tire application by packages. This list does not include region specific packages which are different and done outside of factory.

SR package - Yokohama 245/75/18 (Sumitomo/Falken 245/75/18 spare tire)
SR5 package - Either Yokohama or Bridgestone 265/70/18 (Sumitomo/Falken 245/75/18 spare)
SX package - Either Yokohama or Bridgestone 265/70/18 (Sumitomo/Falken 245/75/18 spare) - The SX package seems to be pretty rare for some reason.
Platinum package - Either Yokohama or Bridgestone 265/60/20 (Sumitomo/Falken 245/75/18 spare)
1794 package - Either Yokohama or Bridgestone 265/60/20 (Sumitomo/Falken 245/75/18 spare)
Sport package - Either Yokohama or Bridgestone 265/60/20 (Sumitomo/Falken 245/75/18 spare)
Limited package - Either Yokohama or Bridgestone 265/60/20 (Sumitomo/Falken 245/75/18 spare)
Capstone package - Bridgestone 265/50/22 (Sumitomo/Falken 245/75/18 spare)
Offroad package "ORP" - Michelin 265/70/18 (Michelin 265/70/18 spare)
TRD Pro Package - Sumitomo/Falken 285/65/18 (Michelin 265/70/18 spare)
TRD Sport package - Sumitomo/Falken 265/60/20 (Michelin 265/70/18 spare)

I have ordered and plan to have them installed by Discount Tire on my 2015 LC200. Need help deciding if I need spacers or not…
Keep us posted (with pics if possible) after you get these installed. Would like to hear your impressions of them.
