New drag link has play??

I just installed new drag link ends and TRE's from CCOT. The drag link by the steering gear was tight at first but after a few miles around town is showin some play (maybe 1/16")... wtf eh? Are these not adjusted when you get them?

The new ends fixed the death wobble while they were tight... needless to say the death wobble has returned.

I would not expect them to be fully adjusted for your rig from the factory. There is almost always some fine tuning available.

The drag link is adjustable. Factory spec says to crank it down tight, then back off something like 2 1/2 full turns (I forget exactly). I did mine this way, and (since it's simple) tried it with fewer turns. Ended up with 1 1/4 turn. Steering is nice and tight, but no binding. Major improvement actually over the factory spec.

I do not know if this will cause premature wear to the draglink. I assume that the play is there to absorb shock from rough roads. I drive on asphalt most of the time, so this seemed like a reasonable change to make.

Would love to know if running them this tight causes any problems?

Ok, I'll just tighten it down and give it a shot. It was tight when I installed it and it made a world of difference steering and tracking.
