Hey guys,

Did some searching, but did not find any info.. so here it goes;

looking at few new (14/15) LC and see that Toyota offers the remote start (PT398-60140) and glass breakage sensor (PT398-60081) as an option. Knowing the remote starts shortcomings, I'm still interested in getting it. As for the glass breakage sensor, I have not come across any with it.

So the question is; should I pull the trigger on one without the remote start and glass breakage sensor, I know can purchase these parts online, but not sure if these are true "plug and play" to the existing Toyota harness?
Has anyone purchase their Cruiser without it and had Toyota dealer install it? or go outsourced to the local Car Audio shop.

I've gone the route of aftermarket in the past, but thinking that I want to stay stock this go around (or at least on the alarm :)

I don't know if it is the exact same unit as the LX570 but my brother has an 2011 LX with the remote start and he sure likes his. It came that way from the factory...

My Land Cruiser heats up really quick. I just get in turn on the heated seats usually wait for a minute and go. I just take it really easy for the first 5 minutes to let the engine warm up.

Hi Rando Kuruza,

It appears to Toyota install these options at factory, but not all have them installed. These are listed on the right hand side of the window sticker, option code "V4" @ $499. This is the remote start.

As an example, some list "Four Season Floor Mat Package", I believe this is the front/rear and rear mat rubber liners, $370, option code "CB".

I would rather have this (remote start) installed by the factory, but should I not find one this way, then I'm gonna try and see if we can adjust price accordingly or have them order it and install it.

Hey CTapia!

See attached PDF's. The glass breakage sensor looks fairly easy to install. The remote start is sort of plug and play… though a lot of plugs and it needs Techstream to configure it.

I would be interested to know if they finally put in a Blu-Ray DVD player in the 2015 head units. Mine is a 2013 and CANNOT play Blu-Ray Disc. Maybe next time you are out checking out your new land cruiser bring a BLU-RAY and give it a whirl!!

I have both options and can't say I use the remote start ever, maybe this winter. Hope the glass sensor never comes into play. I negotiated based on these options not being included as I didn't need them.

Hey Hoser!

Glad to hear from you! :) Don't know if you recall, you gave me a hand installing a diff drop on my ol LX470? Do you recall? Thank you! Thank you :) As always, willing to lend a hand! I went ahead and save those pdfs, they may come in handy.

I"ll do that.. but from all the reading/research that I'm seeing, it appears Blu-Ray is a no go for 15, but yet the Sequoia gets it. :( Maybe 2016 model. Hey, they have justify another $500+/- price increase then.

LAME!

Beware. Gulf States Toyota puts on cheaper third party "options" at the port. They won't be genuine Toyota Parts. I had an FJ cruiser and ordered it with an alarm system, thinking it was the plug and play genuine Toyota part, but they used a cheap alarm and even drilled a hole under the hood for the hood sensor switch, where the genuine Toyota alarm used the built in switch. They also drilled a hole in the dash for the status light, Toyota already had one built in. Same with the trailer hitch.

I'm glad my LC didn't have any options on it.

Thank you Texas! Yes, I have seen that in the past, they try and sell you cheap aftermarket parts at inflated prices.

I'm being very clear and stating "factory accessories" with part #s and/or factory option code to avoid this.

Yes, I remember you! Welcome back to mud. Give me a shout if you need help with anything else or when you are ready to wheel that new 200 ;)

While I don't doubt this is the case with some options I can't see them doing this with the remote start or glass break sensor on a LC. I know my truck has both options and the remote start is integrated into the factory Toyota remote, and I can't see an aftermarket glass break sensor working properly with the factory alarm.

^^^ This. Southeast Toyota also does this.
