The entire plugin has been re-done since the previous developer abandoned it. And yes, it needed some updates...I believe the profanity filter setting in user preferences is backwards. When I select enable profane content, it filters, when I deselect it (which I assume is default), profanity is there in all it's four-letter glory.
Also, the description of the filter in the preferences seems to be written in the Engrishs.
