Hi there.
Livened in Rockhampton, Qld back in the 80’s. Drove a 75 series Ute…..some 40 yrs later I now have one in the UK.

Currently tackling the timing belt and water pump replacement with OEM. The top part of the backing plate looks to be attached to the rocker cover via a single m6 stud. Or is it not.
I do have a workshop manual but cannot see it in detail. Got so far as to all sprockets out and now faced with bare plate, which is in two sections. Obviously the top section only needs removal, but is it attached or not to rocker?

Welcome to the madness.
It doesn't exist without a Pic..

Sometimes one can see details like this on the parts diagram, e.g partsouq.com.
If there is a bolt, or two pieces, it should have parts numbers, thus showing on the diagram.
Just make sure you carefully pick your model, best by entering the VIN.
Good Luck Ralf

Hi Raif….yes a pic would have helped, but shortly after the posting, I had another look, and a wee pull of the plate and all is well, there was copious amounts of mastic holding the plate to the block.
All sorted now. New w.pump in and ordered some new toothed sprockets as the cam sprocket was a tad worn.
