Hello, having made the great mistake of selling my fully Preped (well in development) 80 to a mate :crybaby: - he and it are now in the Sahara - I thought I'd move with the times to the 100 Series.

My hearts desire would be to have a 100 Series with Live Axle front and back, Diesel AUTO.... I know that IFS is everywhere but in Australia they make the so called 105 - it's a Manual. :)

Now here in the UK it's financially OK to buy in auctions in Japan and Import....

THE QUESTION - Do Toyota makea Live Axle, Diesel Auto for the home market....? If they do How would I recognise the Product code etc. Even Toyota UK won't/Can't tell me.

Thanks in advance

No, Toyota does not make a live axle 4wd for the domestic market. You can only get the 100 TD/V8 in 5spd auto w/ IFS. You can reverse import a HZJ105, but it'll likely come from Australia. They used to sell 70-series hard top 4-door w/ 1HZ available in manual or auto (different from the 78-series troopy), but that was discontined a few years back. I think the model was HZJ76 ZX (ZX had rear discs). It also came as a 2-door w/ FRP top. Both had optional front/rear diff locks, both were part-time 4wd. Great value for a LC back in '03...under $30K USD new w/ diff locks.

They (HZJ105) might be available in the eastern european markets too. Could be fun to locate, view-in-person, purchase and drive home. Not sure if EU rules would make this easier or harder.

I know MUD members in France and Spain have the TD but with the IFS. Lots of Germans use the HZJ105 for safaris but my "deutsch sprechen" is too weak to really read the sites.

MUD thread on reimporting - This is mostly Canadians trying to get OZ and JDM spec cruisers but lots of food for thought.
