So the meeting was pretty interesting. There was a HUGE turnout for the OHV group and I think many members of the committee didn't think we would get this involved. My main problem with what they are doing is that they are using the term/phrase "Passive Recreation" to determine what seems to be the main premise of the Open Space Management group. This seems almost contradictory to me. But I do need to do some more reading and get better educated before I can stand up and state something.
Greg,
Sorry we missed you. I think you parked behind me in your FJ60??
Mark W and I were sitting toward the back right corner.
I had to leave when the PISSED US soldier was speaking.
Donno what happened after that. Did I miss anything?
Keith
I was the second to the last person that spoke and then waited to see if they had any determinations or decisions. They were farting around with the definition of " passive recreation" (so I left) before they made a vote to accept as is or change it to include motorized vehicles it was apparent that at some point we will need to live with this term/definition. It will come to haunt us just like it has in Tahoe with the TRPA knobs. Now that they have a term for closing roads I can see in the future that some greenie on the BOS wants to designate an "area" for passive recreation and ooops there goes our road/area. I would put $$ on it.
That was the impression that I got too.
Awesome work guys. I appreciate your efforts, I have not been able to attend any of the meetings, so it's nice to know we have a voice.
So is it now up to BLM to decide who gets to "adopt" the trail? If BBCNN is chosen, what is the responsibility going to be? Trail clean up, maintenence, etc.?
Again, thanks for your efforts, I look forward to a hopefully promising future.
