I was looking at using a netbook to do my nav/trail duties in my truck.
So I need to run streets and topo maps plus do any internet duties I may have for it
Do you think the power would be enough
the processor is a 1.66, 10.1 screen the ram is 1gig but it can be upgraded to 2, which I would do, 160 gig hd with no cd drive. . It also need to be upgraded to windows home premium then all the crap has to be removed from it . I think most of them have 2 , 2.0 usb ports, again I could add ports too
It seems like under 500 I could be set up.
Opinions?
Please
Damnit ? :hillbilly:

I have both the Lenovo S10 and X100e, either will run GPS software without an issue. I no long use the S10 so if you would like to try your software on it I would not have any problem with that.

The S10 was just a little to small for me to use as a real laptop. It works well for what it is but I am fat finger typist. The second day I had the S10 I installed a 64GB SSD, the firmware on it went nuts and its off for RMA. Rather than wait for it to come back I got the X100e and a new SSD for it. After talking about this I think I am going to install Deloeme Street Atlas on the S10 tonight. The offer is open if you want to try one out.

My Fujitsu tablet is 933MHz, works well for navigating with Topo, haven't loaded a street program. For me the daylight viewable screen is a huge plus, it's easy to read in direct sunlight. Also really like the tablet format in the rig. For navigation duty the keyboard isn't needed and the form factor is much more compact. Mine is 10.4", looking to move to 12", if I can snag a deal on a daylight viewable unit.

I would like to take you up on that . It also helps me with a mount config for a notebook/tablet that size
Let me know
thanks for the offer

Kevin, I like the tablet idea for running in the rig. Allows for touchscreen capabilities. There's going to be a lot more tablet type pc's coming out this year and even some MID's (mobile internet devices). Intel is really pushing for it now and Microsoft is as well. Also Kevin, can you point me in the right direction for the mount you used for the tablet? Thanks!

I have an ASUS EEPc 9 inch. I immediately upgraded RAM and replaced the hard drive with a 64GB ssd. I am running XP home and have Delorme Topo and street maps on it.

It runs great, and doesn't crash in rough terrain. I plug in my Verizon data card and also have internet access/Google Earth available.

I have added a brace/bracket that goes to the rear seat mount, making it very solid. Also sprayed some of that black stuff on it!:hillbilly: If you want to check it out, we could meet up or at the June Sonic?

Kevin, LMK when you upgrade. I'd be happy to take that one off youre hands for what ya paid for it.

Matt, are you planning to be at the meet tonight? If so, I can load up the tablet stuff?

Kevin, I didn't see this until this morning. Sorry for not responding earlier. See ya next week though!
