I'm again cleaning animal nest debris out of the cozy home they make in the valley under the intake. In the previous events, I knew what the nest material was and where it came from. In this case, I'm stumped and concerned. There is nothing in my garage like the material I found and I wonder if they might be tearing into something in the LC. For those of you that have poked around in odd places, is there any insulation or padding in the LC that's white? There was a LOT of this in the valley; it clogged the 2" shop vac hose.

There are some sound dampening pads in the inner fenders that appear to be made out of a similar material. The pads are located in the fenders between the door sill and the wheel well. There should be one per side, I think. Pop out the plastic fender liners in the wheel well and peel them back. You should be able to spot the pads with a pen light and inspect for missing material.

These sound deadening pads would be my vote - given the material similarity and proximity to the engine bay. I would think a small rodent could enter and exit the inner fender via the cutouts at the rear of each headlamp, but not sure.

Don't know where that's coming from but I would highly recommend you get yourself some rodent tape ASAP before they start chewing on something that you will for sure not like.

I'm agreeing with others that it's coming from the vehicle, Roger. I recently found what looks to be identical to what you've shown, but laying on top of my cabin filter.

What is this stuff? Is it intended to block off penetration points? Or something that they get stuck to?

The Honda tape is capsaicin laced and deters chewing. I just got a roll so if I ever have to take the intake off to replace the knock sensor harness I'll use it for sure. In the meantime, I'm going to set traps.

I cleaned it all out and verified with my boroscope. Started it up and checked codes....no evidence of chewed knock sensor harness. The engine and cabin air filters are fine and no evidence of animals inside the cabin. I suspect the insulation mentioned by @yonah was used. Since there is no particular consequence to that, I'll concentrate on keeping the little buggers out of the garage.
