Hi there. 1st time poster.

I just moved to the country – 100 miles from civilization. I do have a 06 Dodge 3500 and Toyota 98 Tacoma SR5 as my primary mode of transportation. Also, recently restored 67.5 Datsun 2000 and 67 MGB sit in my garage.

For the past three months, I have been looking for FJ40 as a weekend vehicle. I would not be using this as mud toy. That is what the 98 SR5 with extra stuffs is for. Since I am not mechanically inclined, going through restorations, I know not to look at receipts. To me, it is wiser to purchased a well-done machine. Currently, my limit is about $35K. I am patience. Just want to find a right FJ40.

Saw these on eBay. What are your opinions?

If you happen to come across a worthy one that could pass your experts, please feel free to contact me.

No opinion is too harsh or insane.

Thank you so much for your time and expertise.

The first two are way over-priced. That first guy wants fitty thou!

I always describe it this way....if you buy a $200,000 for $189,000..... And all the houses around it are worth 200,000.......... Then you put $60,000 into the house to fit your taste and live in it........... You cant sell it for $350,000!
It is still a 200,000 house.

Be patient and you could get a great cruiser for under fifteen thousand
...and a decent one for eight thou

$35k is leaning on the high-end when talking FJ40's. You will 100% want to DEFINITELY have it checked by a reputable/cruiser knowledgeable third party before pulling the trigger. I've seen clowns on ebay trying to pass $8k cruisers as $35k too many times to count. Shiny paint isn't always a good thing.

I would also recommend finding one that is as original as possible. V8's definitely have their place in the FJ40 world, but they tend to hinder its value unless it's an ICON or some other high-end custom built rig which would make the $35k you are willing to spend only the deposit to start the build.

Lastly, like crotalusatrox said, be patient. Spending money close to $35k would make me finding the right cruiser into a Cruisade:doh:.

Thank you to both of our advices. I will be patient. Upon finding a suitable truck, I will pay for local member to inspect the truck.
There are so many out there - CONFUSION.
