I have a 2004 LC and lost connection to my radio last week when I hit a bump really hard. I need to check the connection to my antenna, how do you pull the stereo? I did a search and could not find anything.

Thanks in advance.

I thought that was for the Nav. system, sorry just re-read it, thanks. I do not have a trim piece tool and went to auto zone and they ddidn't have one can i get it done without one? also when you pull those two pannels off on either side of the stereo do you have to unhook all the electrical for the buttons?

I was trying to see if anyone had some pictures?

See this thread for a link to the 2004 Factory Service Manual in PDF form;

It's pretty straight forward, pull the two trim pieces to the left and right of the unit by hand (having a plastic pry tool so you don't scratch anything is helpful). Unplug the wires leading to the switches/lights on the trim pieces and get them out of the way. Then unbolt the 4 10mm bolts holding the head unit it. Here's a pic of mine pulled back while installing my VAIS:

If you don't have, or can't find a plastic pry tool, the "HINT" in Toyota manuals is to "Tape up the screwdriver tip before use." Electrical tape works great.

Actually, I just looked at the actual instructions for this again, and they say use a "moulding tool". But either way, start prying from the inboard edge slightly, and you should be able to get you fingers started behind the trim to work your way around the trim pulling it straight back.

Wow, that was easy I used a thin butter knife with tape on it and the side trim pieces popped right off no problem, removed the 4 10mm bolts/screws and got a good look at my atenna connections.

Bad news is they all have good conectivity, were else could my antenna be failing?

Thanks for all the help guys.

The 2004's have issues with Nav units failing, I forget what happens, try a search here on 'Mud.

Different issue, at least to my knowledge. My 04 screen failed, and the symptoms were frozen controls, message on screen saying air conditioner not available, etc. I never had any issues just with the antenna connection. However not to say something else has gone wrong.
