I removed the exhaust camshaft and replaced all the shims to get the clearances perfect. I gently set the exhaust cam back in and lined up the marks. However, it won't sit flush of course because some valves need compressed. Do I just tighten down the bolts according to the order in the manual for it to pull into place?

Some quick help would be appreciated!

Jason,
Did anyone ever get back to you about this? I'm at the point of removing my exhaust camshaft, to measure the existing exhaust shims. Its making me nervous. The install issue you brought up, and the dual exhaust cam gear are potential issues. What did you finally end up doing? Am I worrying too much?

I don't know about how the OP finally handled this, but on the 3vz that I put back together, I just tighten it down using the sequence in the manual and let it compress the valves as it is tightened down. I don't know how this works on the dual overhead cams since you have a pair that needs to be in the correct orientation with one another.
