So my brother got accepted to USC for nursing school last week(anesthetist is his goal). He's starting in January '10 and is moving from Cincy Ohio to Columbia SC. In order to garner residency in time for next year's fall term (and save $$$$), he's realized he's got to find an apartment this week. He's on his way to ATL now to drop of his 2 girls with the grandparents, then he and his wife will head out to Columbia tomorrow.

So which UC/LcC members are Columbia residents? Can you give up some local info on neighborhoods near the college and the local public schools?

reply to this thread or PM me, either way I get an instant email on my phone.

Thanks!!!
Rick

I lived in Cola for a few years...

Forest Acres was a desirable area, it's "near" the Med School. There are a few private schools "near" Forest Acres. Columbia is spread out, there are a few nice areas not near the med school.

Cool, thanks! I'll drop a line to some of these guys. After talking to my brother last night, he said that he's checking out the westside like Lexington and Irmo. He is looking for something thats not too far from the interstate to make his commute a little easier. The hospital he'll be working out of is Palmetto-Richland.

I would be interested in his findings as I may be moving there soon as well. I will be attending USC as well. I have been lookin at the northern side near Lake Murray, but Lexington is nice to.

Traffic sucks - make sure he talks to the locals about that when he is mapping - school - home - work - school

Thanks for all the info guys. He found a place in Lexington and got himself a drivers license at the DMV. He's working on getting a tag today and then head's back to ATL before going back to Cincy.
