I had a white 1976 Land Cruiser that the engine had ceased up.

It was towed to Manchester TN from Murfeesboro by a friend (well a friend of a friend). I had met the guy and went on a crawl with him but can't recall his name for the life of me (although I'm working on that too).

I was told I could keep it there until I found a new engine. About 2 months after that when I found a replacement, I tried to call the guy.

The guy would never return my calls or my friends calls. I'm not one to get the police involved so I just blew it off. Of course then, I was young and stupid.

Anyways I saw one today that looked exactly like the one I used to have and brought back very fun memories.

I still have the title of this vehicle.

Does anyone know how to go about tracking this vehicle down? (if it still exists and hasn't been parted off).

Thanks for your help!

No help here, but how long ago was that?

A long time ago. Around 10 years.

After doing a quick look around these forums this morning, it didn't take long to figure out who towed it. I would really like to know why he did it to me. I'm sure he remembers it very well, unless he has a habit of doing stuff like this.

I wish the internet was this popular 10 years ago, it would have made it a lot easier to track this guy down.

Maybe I can find some pictures to post.

If you have the title and know who has it, go get it. I would check and see if TN has those random laws where if you have something for a certain amount of time, it becomes yours (I forget the word). I'm sure twelve cop cars would help him hand the keys over a little fast...

Go to your local cops or local County Clerks office, run the Vin, if it is currently registered, guess what your in luck...

Also on the other hand... If you leave something somewhere for 1 year, they have a right to claim the vehicle, and most likely get a mechanics lien and then get the vehicle since it was abandon... I know to you that is not what happened, but this is what the other person can do.

Case in point, guy left a 4Runner at my Garage, he wanted the motor fixed. I ordered the parts, and then never herd from him again. 2 Years later, I did the above. Then sold the 4Runner.

In our area of the woods of TN, this happens alot. I have now in the last 10 years had left 8-10 vehicles easy.

This issue has been resolved. Dan, received a repair estimate and told the shop he would get back to them, forgot where he sent the cruiser, moved, changed his phone number and had never registered the cruiser in his name so no way to contact him. So after the cruiser sat for 6 years an abandoned vehicle title was issue by the state.
