Need some help with my 80

Guys,

I have been having issues with my FJ80 for about two months now and I'm finally stumped.....First I had electrical issues (Bad grounds) then the AFM went out (I was that guy who took out the wrong screws and ripped the prongs off of the board...SMH) Now I finally got my truck running but as soon as I put it in gear it stalls out and then dies......Anybody on here any good with 3FE engines that might have some spare time to check it out and give me some pointers?? Starting to think I should have never bought this thing........

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

can you rev it freely in park with no adverse effects??? If so that would help rule out anything spark or fuel related meaning your coil and fuel pump/filter should be fine.

A stuck TQ converter, bad trans solenoid or faulty ecu could cause those symptoms. I'd rule out an ecu problem bit that is easy to check by "borrowing" a members with the same rig.

I'm not in ur area so I can't help with that last one.

What does it idle at in park? Is it possible that engaging the torque converter puts enough load on the motor to make it stall?

Sufficient fluid in the transmission? Is your check engine light on while running in park?

Thanks for all the responses guys. I have been super busy lately and I have not had the time to look at the cruiser at all. I have a dead battery at the moment (which is weird because I just had over 12v on it on friday night, now its dead) so I will take the battery to get charged and then I can respond to you all. Thanks so much for the input.
