I got the family all loaded up and ready to leave for vacation and I my gear selector is locked. abs vac lights are on. No problems when I parked it this am to load up, but i used the e brake for the first time in months. Help,
please.

To start, I'd look under the rear of the truck at the e brake lever on each wheel to make sure they both fully released. The pivot arms may be corroded and have not released. If so, you can pull or pry them forcefully into the released position. I just checked the control cables on mine and in the released position, the cables are slightly relaxed.

And i'm sure you know about the button to release the gear selector under the little cover at the front left of the center console.

Thanks for the info. I did use the shift release . I am now 250 mi into the trip and I have to use the manual release every time. No codes . Does anyone know if the abs relay going bad will disable the shift interlock solenoid?

brakes lights are ok? i had similar when rear & brake lights fused. hope this help

Thanks Catz. It was the brake light fuse. I had checked under the hood but I was lazy and did not look under the dash. Once I got to Michigan I crawl wee under and swapped out the fuse. Everything went back to normal. Would have thanked you before, but the wifi at the rental cabin was a bad joke. I will say that the Land Cruiser family is poorly represented on the sand dunes in Silver Lake Michigan. People seemed quite surprised by the LC performance compared to other SUVs, particularly the luxury ones.
