Well my drivers side mirror gave up on me with both tabs breaking AND the little threads for the set screw cracking. So I need a replacement and since they don't come painted I'm going to replace both with black ones.
I have seen two aftermarket types available :
Depo
Kool-vue
Depo is about 10-20 dollars less per mirror. Just wondering if anyone has used the depo brand? I know the kool-vue have been used before with good results.

TTT. I'd like to know this too.

Anyone?

If your mirror glass still sits in the right spot just get some plastic epoxy and glue it in place. That's what I did to both of mine and haven't had any issues since and I doubt it will fail again. This also cured my shakey mirror problems too. The only tricky part is finding a long skinny nozzle to apply the epoxy in the right spots with the glass in place. The only down side to this is if the mirror glass motor fails the whole mirror will need to be replaced since I can't access the motor screws anymore. The epoxy only cost me about $6-7 and took 5min to fix both mirrors.

I'm debating on this. My driver's door mirror glass is currently held in place with poster putty - that chewing gum looking stuff to hang things on walls that you want to fall at random 5-50 days later.

Do I buy a pair of the knock off mirrors in black for $150 or dig very deep into my wallet for a new DS mirror in the color my truck used to be before 16 years of sun and abuse?

It's a moonglow gray truck with black bumpers & sliders, so the black wouldn't look horridly out of place.

Does anyone have experience with the knock off mirrors?

Have you tried the part out section of the classifieds? Or shoot a PM to arcteryx. He's usually has some 80s he's parting out.

Yes - and rarelyl are the mirrors in good shape.
