I am in the prosses of looking into having a rear window slider built for my 1982 FJ45 from a US manufacture. At this time I only received a request from one of three asking for the complete dimensions for the window frame on my vehicle. The salesman also wanted to know how many were needed. Undoubtedly this question was referring to one being built is going to cost a bunch, and more will cost somewhat less. He did not say what the minimum order needs to be right now or the cost. I just waned to ask you FJ45 owners if you may be interested in a rear sliding window if the price is right. The only thing I need is the size of the window opening on your early models as mine is a 1982 model as I do not know what the dimensions are for the early ones. I am hoping that they are all the same so one slider will fit all. Mine is 11.75" high, 44" across, and 44.5" from left bottom to right top inner corner ( glass removed).
So without a lot of PMs sent I just need the dimensions for now so I can proceed with this to see if it is tangible for myself and you folks.
I am NOT out to make a buck off anyone, I am ONLY interested in helping make the rig a better place in the summer. Constructive Suggestion are always welcome.
Thanks

Thanks Chad for the PM . So far out of the three suppliers/manufacturers i have contacted, two have declined to build any. One was wanting 100 units with some kind of contract, and the other has them made in China but also thinks that the corner radius of the window is to much for the machine to bend?. The radius is 1.75".
So that leaves one manufacture left from my list. They sound promising. I will post that information as soon as I hear from them on if they can do the work and cost. PM me again as you did not say the year of the 45.

Thanks

I'm interested in one for a 1966 lwb

Rear window

Sorry guys, I had a follow up post on the out come of this rear window needs.
Long story short I found one company in the USA that would do it but I was not eligible to start the manufacturing of a few, I needed a retail licence in a business and a flying business was not acceptable. But a gentleman on MUD was to do a follow up on this that has a retail business but never heard any more.
That's it, not sure were it is at now. I still would love to have one too.

Ttt? I guess nobody wants to run with this? Dang. Im not near needing one yet but it would be a nice to have.

Window

Yeah, I have not hear anything more from the gent that was going to pick up were I left off. It was so simple from what I remember. The window that they were going to make was pretty close to the older style but more streamlined (not sticking out from the cab, flush) and was in flat black.
This window would be a relief in the summer months when 90+.
If I remember right it was like a $150 for the 1st window to be made and cheaper if 12 or more.
Someone on this site with a business should ck into this
I to would love to have one.:meh:

someone with a shop needs to grab the ball and run with this.. I'd much rather have a sliding window than a fixed plate of glass..

so where is this vender?....any resale lic. work?

They were the ones willing to undertaking the manufacturing of the slider
I do not have the information I obtained when I first starting checking into the manufacturing of the slider
Sorry

I have contacted C.R.L. again (as my old info has disappeared) asking for the information on what is required by the consumer on cost, licence, and product amounts to complete the making of 20 sliders. I will post the reply ASAP.
Since my last attempt with the sliders I had my 45 rear window out and had the measurements but since have lost it. Anyone have the rear window out of the cab and able to post the measurements? Sorry must be the full glass window. If any full size sliders can be produced maybe the split window sliders can be obtained later.
Found the measurements- high 11.3/4", 44" long, from top left corner to lower right corner-44.1/2"

This was the closest I could find it's 44" wide but 18" high and the ends are not straight vertical as the Toyota's is.

Had a phone call from C. R. Laurence Co., Inc this morning about the having the windows made and pretty much got the we can do it if you are a retailer with a auto business, and willing to set up an account, and willing to give use lots of money with your technical drawings for possible manufacturing. Bottom line is I feel they now do not want to be bothered. The gent on the phone had no real idea of the cost. Said tooling is the most expensive. I said you have a window now that is close to the size just needs to be modified and a few inches taken away and wallah, no dice. I know something about business and the technical issues but again I feel now that they (or this guy) feels there is not a market for it. Bottom line is someone who is willing to sign up with them that has a solid auto parts/sales retail business and willing to do the leg work from there please feel free. I know lots of 45 owners would be very helpful in what ever can be done to help.
Sorry, I quit :meh::bang:
