Hi everyone

I need to know if my differentials are Limited Slip or not.

FZJ71
Engine : 4.5L 1FZFE
H1551F
2009

My Vin. is JTEFJ71J790016015

Here is a picture of the rear

And Here is a picture of the user manual

Are my two differentials Limited Slip or Standard??
I contacted my Toyota dealer, they were not helpful and they said we don't know:mad::bang:

Thank you.

You should be able to determine that by the data plate. Here is something I shamelessly copy and pasted from another site.

Check compliance plate and axle code will be a letter and 3 numbers letter=crownwheel diametre next 2 numbers= ratio third number refers to carrier type 2=open single pinion.. 3=open lsd.. 4=open 2 pinion... 5=lsd 2 pinion. There are more, do a search on the web and you should be able to decipher it.

This should tell what was originally was fitted on your truck

Bu this doesn't help me about my DIFFERENTIALS

Thanks anyway.

Even the Toyota dealer can't get the VIN deciphering correct.

To the OP: look at your diff: if it has a sticker saying "LSD Oil Only" or something along those lines, you have a limited slip diff.

If it doesn't, then you don't.

Your iteration had both the LSD as well as none option.

Nah you wont get any diff info off the vehicle VIN you need to get the codes off the body/data tag on the firewall as phrog said, there's plenty of sites on the net to translate the data this one comes off the link at the top of this page

A01A - should be 3.42 ratio, 2 pinion open diff. But. The parts list has 4.10 gears on the truck, which is the normal gear ratio for the LC. So, it is probably a hybrid axle code, some funny foreign code. You should be running an open diff though as mentioned above, no LSD sticker.

Most of the axle code gouge out there are for US spec trucks:meh:

Thank you.
Now I know that my differentials are not Limited Slip. So I can use any GL-5 oil with them.
Here the temperature is always hot. In Winter, it wont go below 3-9 degrees. I think GL-5 90 (single grade) is fine.
