I am considering making an offer on this 4runner
TOYOTA_4-RUNNER_SR5_2001

Pros:
Maintainance. Under the hood, and underneath it is very, very clean. Just had timing belt service done, new tires. All maintainance in the last 3 years done @ the dealer. Interior is very clean.

Cons:
-Some minor cosmetic issues. Sap on the hood, some of the body cladding is scuffed, dent in the front bumper. Over all minor issues.
-Needs a windshield
-No keyfobs for keyless entry.
-1 small dent on hood, looks like a hail dent.

He is asking $7,500.

What say ye? I'm considering offering $6800-$k. Would love to hear what others think.

I paid similar on an 02 tacoma with 15k less, ARB, Winch, sway-a-ways, and rear locker 2 years ago. No maintenance records though. Desperate seller as well.

Meh, not a great deal. I would pay $6k at the most. Also, I had an 02 4Runner a few years back. The TRAC system in it was too sensitive. When pulling out onto the main road during a snow storm, or even if there was a little bit a gravel on the road, it system would activate, cut the power, and leave me almost stranded in the middle of the road with cars coming at me from both sides. Very dangerous. They fixed this issue on the newer 4Runners (03 and on). You can build in a switch to disable this system, however. Search "Andy Mod".

Thanks for the feedback. Still on the fence, some stuff I like and some I don't. Just trying to decide if I can live with the things I don't like.

Does anyone have any price feedback on this one?

I am trying to stay below 7k, and my gut tells me that I won't get this guy to come anywhere close to that but also curious what others think.

I wouldn't get it for $7k. Only because of the supercharger on there. 3.4L's are stout engines, but 160k FI miles are different than 160k NA miles. If it's been properly maintained, maybe it won't be an issue, but I personally won't risk it. I had one back in 98 and it was fun (and fast), but needed premium fuel and had a couple of issues that came up (nothing major).

THe first one you posted certainly passes the eye test from 10 yards away - it's a good lookin' truck. It's going to be hard to find something perfect cosmetically that's 10+ years old. You could either make him a lower offer and see if he bites, or if you are willing to let it go watch for another week or two and see if it sits. Then offer him 6500.
