Hi all,

A very reputable local shop has diagnosed and quoted me the following parts to be replaced:
1. Upper control arm with ball joints (aftermarket made in america)
2. Lower control arm with ball joints (aftermarket made in america)
3. Outer tire rod ends (oem)
4. Steering rack boots (oem)
5. Cv boots clamp front inner (oem)

All the above new included labor for 1700$.

item # 1 & 2 if OEM will cost an additional $600.

Is that a fair price for california ?

Are you not interested in upgrading while doing some of this ? if that's OEM stuff the pricing isn't bad...

Bberry after looking at your cruiser tonight there is nothing mission critical. Get that CV boot clamped so it will stop dropping grease.

All of your ball joints are weeping at the boots. Lets get that tuck up on a jack in a few weeks and we can determine that state of them. I didnt see much on the TREs that concerned me but when we inspect the joints we can take a look at them.

The steeering rack boots are basically dust covers - your rack leaks (as discussed). Drive it til it drops.

It was a pleasure to meet you Rob.

What a stand up guy. Had no idea he was a ih8mud member and met him by chance. Being new to land cruisers he helped me inspect my 5 day old LC purchase and even removed a jerry rigged towing trailer connection. Much appreciated.

Thanks for the advice, will be following it :)
