Sorry you are dealing with BS from your contractor.
I typically do most remodels and work myself for that exact reason.
My wife used to always get overcharged when I would be deployed and needed to hire a “professional”

Agreed, however my skills have diminished such I needed ”professionals”, as my son-in-law said…if I brought 50%of their professional behavior in his career, he’d be fired in a week…

Nothing wrong with using pros. I use them. But I talk and deal with them. Not my wife.
