maybe needing my 95 land cruiser differential rebuilt - still not sure - have some up and down movement was going to try and tighten up the pinion nut first -- but if i need to have it rebuilt i need somewhere in eastern nc that has a good reputation in rebuilding them if i bring the third member to them --

Hey Heath. Good to see you made it over here.
Sounds like it could be a pinion bearing gone south.

Two first thoughts are Darin of Canucks cruisers in reaford if he has the time or east coast gear supply in RDU. Not sure who else would be down towards Greenville.

They goofed my last two items but its still where ill likely take my gears. Anyone else need diff work?

Ill be dropping my 3rd off for new pinion and carrier bearings at some point as well soon. Wonder if chase would entertain any group discount on labor if we brought him 3-5 diffs at once. Likely not but wouldnt hurt to ask.

Also if you chose this route Heath I could meet you there with the 80 parts n pieces.

im putting in the seal tomorrow (was leaking bad) to see if it helps along with tighten down the nut more -- 20ftlbs per georg and see how it drives -- if it still making the noise i have to get it done really fast - this maybe the only family vehicle real soon -- ive removed thirds from a 60 for the front one but never any rear stuff -- is it harder just really have no idea but will get it done some how -- will go to east coast gear since they seem highly recommened and would love a discount with a group --

now wondering if i have to fix the rear and seems like i need to - replaced the seal today put the lock nut back and it still moves up and down a little -- so how much does it cost to have this fixed at ecgs in raleigh or should i have it regeared and wonder how much that would cost for doing both front and rear - will be using this vehicle in the hills mainly on paved roads but long hills mainly --

Understand if it needs new bearings for the Pinion then it had to come all the way apart. I myself do not like to just redo those bearings cause if it has run this way for a time it will whine once you get it set back up right. Have done it too many times and almost every time it has happened. I just put new gears in myself. Unless you really need to regear i would not do that. it will cost a pretty penny for both ends as everything has to come apart up front and most everything in the rear.

So, in saying that what do you have on this vehicle lift / tire wise please ?

And this is just my opinion.

no lift yet only street tires - but will be needing both -- i can do everything except the bearing/regearing/back lash -- so i was thinking of taking both thirds down and having them fix and regear or just fix -- still dont know what to do -
